The parade will follow the same route as in previous years commencing at 18th & Main, proceeding east around the square and west on Washington. Band greeters will check in your band students and hand stamp each student for free admission at the afternoon performance upon arrival in Clarinda. Each participating school in addition will be allowed three free admissions per bus (2 chaperones and 1 bus driver). There will be judges at three different fixed locations along the parade route and a fourth technical judge roving along the parade route. These locations are marked on the enclosed map. We will be having official spotters one-half block before the second and third judges stands to control the spacing of bands. These official spotters will have the authority to slow down or stop your marching band without being penalized. Bands must maintain a forward motion at all times. Bands that do not maintain a forward motion will be subject to penalty points. If the parade stops, due to circumstances beyond your control, your band will not be penalized for stopping. Bands must follow the directions of the parade marshals or be subject to penalty points and/or disqualification. The technical judge will deduct five points for each delay of parade or failure to follow parade marshals directions. You will receive no marks from the technical judge unless you have been penalized. FINAL SCORES: All directors must review their scoring ballots in the packets before leaving the Clarinda High School football stadium. No numbers will be changed unless the Band Director discusses the matter with Jamboree officials prior to leaving the football stadium that day. FIELD COMPETITION: Field competition will begin at 1:30 p.m. A special pass gate will be available for band students at the southeast gate of the high school football field. Band students will already have received their hand stamp prior to the morning parade competition. Note: Spectators will be charged an admission fee of $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students. School activity tickets will not be accepted. The Southwest Iowa Band Jamboree Committee has implemented a scheduled time for playing warm-up, marching warm-up and performance time. A map is enclosed highlighting the designated warm-up areas. A Band Jamboree official will be assigned to your band at the appropriate warm-up and performance areas. A field competition list and warm-up schedule is enclosed. Enter the performance field through the southwest corner next to the west bleachers. Position your band on the west side of the performance field as the preceding band is performing. Each participating field band has submitted an announcer form for the afternoon competition. Class 3A and 4A bands are allowed 15 minutes from the time they enter the field until the last person steps off the performance field. **Please note Class 1A and 2A bands will only have a 12-minute performance time. Performance time is a minimum of 7 minutes. The performance equipment gate is located directly south of the main bleachers at the Clarinda High School Football Stadium. No lawn mowers, gators or trailers are allowed on the track. Our field judges will be using the IHSMA official ballots and scoring procedures. Please refer to the Iowa High School Music Association web site for a copy of the rules and ballots: HYPERLINK "http://www.ihsma.org"www.ihsma.org. These ballots are similar to those used in surrounding states and will allow competing bands a rating (based on Iowa's rating system). The scores will be used to determine trophy winners and a recap sheet will be given to participating bands following their performances. The general effects judges will be located in the press box and execution judges will be on the field. There will be a technical judge during the field competition. Please call the Clarinda High School if there are any questions concerning the time limits or line violations. All field marching trophies will be awarded after the last band performs. There will be ballots available for those bands that do not have an auxiliary section. Please let the press box know prior to your performance if you would like to use the non-auxiliary ballots. The taped critiques of judges comments, ballots and VHS-C cassette recording will be provided in the official packet following the event.
